Term 2 Week 3: What We Are Learning This Week

Literacy: This week students are learning about the digraph oo (as in moon and book). They will be using these sounds to read/write words and construct sentences. During guided reading sessions this week I will be exposing students to the reading strategy 'Don't Forget Ellie' to encourage them to use their memory to recall words they have seen before. In writing lessons this week students will continue to learn about the structure of a report. As a whole class we will be imitating a report about a pelican. Handwriting sessions this week will focus on the robot letters k, p and  h.

Numeracy: The math focus for this week is measurement and geometry value specifically focusing on time. Students will revise recognising the time to the hour and half past. During activities students will also practice their number writing and counting skills.

Science: This week students will conduct a science investigation in pairs. Our investigation will pose the question "What happens to the bounce of a ball when it is dropped on different surfaces?" Students will use their science inquiry skills to plan, conduct and evaluate their investigation.

History: Due to cross country commitments our class will not be completing a history lesson this week.
