What We Are Learning: Term 3 Week 2

Literacy: This term students will be revising the letter sounds that they have been learning this year to develop fluency. They will be using the sounds ch, th and sh to read/write words and construct sentences. In writing lessons this week students are learning about the structure of poetry. We have been learning the poem "I Have A Dog" and using it to discuss rhyme and sentence structure. Handwriting sessions this week will focus on the  curly caterpillar letters s, f and long ladder letters l and i.

Numeracy: The math focus for this week is measurement and geometry specifically focusing on shape. Students will be developing their understanding of classifying 2D and 3D shapes (pyramids and prisms). They will be required to use mathematical language such as corners, edges and faces to describe these shapes. During mental maths students will continue to practice their understanding of number and algebra skills including skip counting, number lines, addition/subtraction and place value.

Science/Geography/Technology: Please stay tuned for more information in regards to these topics that will also be taught this term. Due to swimming lessons next week they subjects will not be taught until swimming lessons are completed.
